Feeling better today! Definitely feel the white blood cells coming back, a general sense of energy returning, and only the slightest hint of the achiness that was with me Sunday night through yesterday. So, if M-Th after infusion are my "nadir", and I was still able to work and do pretty much my usual routine with that going on, then I am officially lucky that I am being spared of some of the wicked side effects that people have with CT. Especially the eating ones (nausea, no sense of taste or bad taste, food repulsion, indigestion). For someone as dedicated and passionate about food as I am, I have to admit this was what I worried about most.
If anything, I've been needing to eat more often (though smaller meals) and things have been tasting GREAT. Yesterday, I practically inhaled channa masala at the Huntsman cafeteria. It was full of fatty coconut milk and I couldn't get enough.
In other news, transitional haircut (in front of a Julian Pozzi series print):
Meet Marge.
She works as the HR coordinator of a bank in a suburb where there is a mall for every mood. She is sassy, upbeat, fun, and just a little bit prone to nostalgia. Her favorite movie is "Mermaids". She was a aerobics instructor in the 90's but is now certified to teach Zumba. She loves cats, Mexican vacations, 50's styles, and the color turquoise.
I keep telling people "don't get used to it!" as it should be of short duration. When it really starts falling out in clumps I'm just going to buzz it off. Why go through the mange phase? As if I didn't already feel diseased.
Anyhoo. Wig shopping this weekend. Looks like I'm going to have to drop some cash to get at least one that doesn't look like a halloween costume (like the one I bought on ebay for $40... big surprise).
The new style, even if temporary, is a great look. You could always go anti - wig and go for a bright orange fright wig and look like an extra from "Brave". Just a thought. glad to hear that the CT is relatively side effect free. Keep going.
ReplyDeleteYou are wildly inspiring Hilary. I now want to take a picture of myself with my new haircut and write a bio:
ReplyDeleteMeet Betty the boomer. she is using her post menopausal years to alter the way people think about money. She thinks the molecules making up her body came together in an unnamable calling sort of like a slime mold. While she isn't quite sure of the purpose she's enjoying the togetherness until they're ready to go their separate ways. In the meantime she enjoys good lattes, long marriages and partnering with younger men (not that way!)
You are a model of strength, Hilary! Loving the 'do, keep it as long as is right. Definitely pace yourself on the work thing; you don't have to prove anything to anybody (since i think ya kinda already did and are anyway.) Over here in CA, breathing deeply for you & sending lots of love...
ReplyDeleteGo Marge!
ReplyDeleteYou are totally rocking the new do! Sending love from Seattle.
