Going public

Hey, I've made this blog public. If you happen to know of anyone who was interested in reading, but didn't feel comfortable asking me,  feel free to send it on.

Managing 100 people (the max of an invite-only blog) was getting strange. I don't like to have to play blog god and pare people off whom I suspected are not really reading the blog to add new folks. The only reason it was private in the first place is that I received 55,000 "+1" hits when I first went online (now up to the number you see below). I note that this is only happening to the first post.

Someone (Casey? Suz?) who understands the blogosphere may be able to explain to me what this was about, but it freaked me out, and I went private.

Anyway, I am now out there for all to see. Lopsided and balding yet standing tall. One woman's all-too-common journey through breast cancer.

Con queso.

  1. I support going public with your blog. I made that decision with mine because I knew that a significant portion of my community wouldn't be able to figure out the extra steps with a private blog. And....I figured, in my case, who really cares about my blog but my community?

It turned out that some strangers stumbled on my blog and found some support through it. I made the decision not to approve any comments from those I didn't know.

Everyone finds their own comfort zone on the interwebs.

I'm excited to share your blog with Maria. She was one of those in your community that couldn't figure out how to access your private blog :)
